Ethical Considerations in Working with Older Adults That Hoard |

This workshop addresses the unique ethical and clinical aspects involved in working with older adults that hoard. An overview of clinical hoarding is presented, and the many manifestations and causative factors of hoarding among older adults are discussed. Various intervention and treatment models are explored, with an emphasis on confronting the many ethical dilemmas that arise in situations that often involve both the mental and public health systems, and can adversely affect not only the individual involved, but the community that they live in as well. The program includes case examples as well as input and discussion from workshop participants.
